The opera department of the Symphony & Opera Academy
of the Pacific offers a unique program that
prepares the next generation of opera artists and advanced students
for a career in music performance and in obtaining a position with
a professional opera company. It demands a self-motivated, mature
student who can take advantage of all the offerings, musical and extra-musical,
without individual guidance.
Located on the Sunshine Coast about 80 air-miles north of Vancouver,
Powell River is lapped by the waters of Malaspina Strait and nestled
against the Coastal Mountain Range. There is a multitude of summer
activities, from other arts and cultural offerings, to outdoor recreation
such as hiking, biking, kayaking, boating and fishing, as well as
town amenities such as restaurants, shops, golf courses, medical/dental
services and a host of others.
