William Linwood

Victoria Symphony
William Linwood studied with George Gaber at Indiana University and continued his studies with Cloyd Duff (Cleveland Orchestra) and Kurt-Hans Goedicke (London Symphony Orchestra).
Mr Linwood has been Principal Timpani with the Victoria Symphony since 1982. He has performed with many leading orchestras in both Canada and England. With the University of Victoria Percussion Ensemble, Bill directed the Canadian Premiere of George Antheil’s “Ballet Mecanique” (original version 1924) in March of 2001, and in
2002, directed a programme dedicated entirely to the music of Varese. During the summer, William teaches at the Courtenay Youth Music Centre.
