Principal Trombone with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra & the CBC Radio Orchestra since 1974, Mr. Cherry was born and educated in Toronto. He is a student of the legendary Emory Remington and graduated from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York in 1971. He has performed as soloist with the National Arts Centre, Vancouver Symphony and CBC Radio Orchestras. Gordon is a senior lecturer on the faculty at the University of British Columbia, the Vancouver Academy of Music, and has taught many young brass players throughout Canada and the United States at numerous summer festivals.
Mr. Cherry has recently published a ground breaking CD-ROM of Orchestra Music for Low Brass including over 6,000 pages of public domain Symphonic works as PDF files. This new publication has received rave reviews as an invaluable resource. All low brass participants of SOAP will receive a free copy of the “Complete Collection of Low Brass Excerpts”.
